There are 3 full time Practice Nurses; 2 of whom are Nurse Practitioners, which means as well as offering Practice Nurse services they are also able to prescribe certain medications according to their prescribing formulary. They can see you if you have a suspected urinary tract infection for example.
Practice Nurses deal with all sorts of health issues, such as dressings and stitch removal, ear syringing, travel vaccinations (private chargeable service), asthma checks, blood pressure monitoring, contraception, osteoporosis checks, smears and smoking cessation. You can make an appointment to see them during surgery hours. When you book your appointment, you will be asked what the appointment is for - this is merely so that we can allocate the correct length of appointment and to allow the nurse to prepare their consulting room for your procedure and also to ensure that you are given an appointment with the correct nurse as they each have different areas of speciality. |
